The Climb Experience
The 7 Days Rongai Route is one of the most scenic and less crowded routes for climbing Mount Kilimanjaro. Approaching from the northern side near the Kenya border, the route offers peaceful trails, gradual altitude gain, and stunning panoramic views throughout the climb.
The Rongai Route passes through forest, moorland, alpine desert, and glacier zones before reaching Uhuru Peak at 5,895m. Its gradual ascent and additional acclimatization time make it one of the best routes for climbers seeking a quieter and more comfortable Kilimanjaro experience.

Day 4: 2nd Cave Camp (3480m / 11417ft) to Kikelewa Camp (3630m / 11909ft)
Today’s hike is shorter and focused on acclimatization. The trail offers beautiful views of the mountain’s rugged northern slopes and giant senecio plants scattered across the landscape. The gradual altitude gain allows your body additional time to adjust before moving to higher elevations. Dinner and overnight at Kikelewa Camp.
Day 5: Kikelewa Camp (3630m / 11909ft) to Mawenzi Tarn Hut (4310m / 14140ft)

Day 6: Mawenzi Tarn Hut (4310m / 14140ft) to Kibo Hut (4700m / 15420ft)
Today you cross the alpine desert zone toward Kibo Hut, the final base camp before your summit attempt. The terrain becomes rocky and dry with spectacular views of Kibo Peak ahead. After arriving at Kibo Hut, you will rest, hydrate, and attend a detailed summit briefing before preparing for the midnight summit climb. Dinner and overnight at Kibo Hut.
Day 7: Kibo Hut (4700m / 15420ft) to UHURU PEAK (5895m / 19340ft) & Down to Horombo Hut (3700m / 12139ft)

At sunrise, you will enjoy breathtaking glacier views and celebrate your successful summit before beginning your descent. After descending to Kibo Hut for a short rest, you continue down to Horombo Hut for overnight stay. This is the most challenging but also the most rewarding day of the entire climb. Dinner and overnight at Horombo Hut.
Day 8: Horombo Hut (3700m / 12139ft) to Marangu Gate (1860m / 6102ft)
After breakfast, you descend through the beautiful rainforest toward Marangu Gate where you will receive your summit certificate as recognition of your successful climb. You will then be transferred back to your hotel in Moshi for a hot shower, relaxation, and celebration. We also welcome you to spare an hour of your day to plant a tree as part of our environmental conservation efforts in the Kilimanjaro region. Safari and Zanzibar add-ons are available if you wish to continue exploring Tanzania.
Day 9: Depart Kilimanjaro
After breakfast, depending on your flight schedule, you will be transferred to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your onward journey home. For travelers wishing to continue exploring Tanzania, this is also the perfect opportunity to extend your adventure with a safari to Serengeti National Park, Ngorongoro Crater, Tarangire National Park, or the beautiful beaches of Zanzibar.

Your safety is carefully monitored throughout the climb by experienced mountain guides. Daily health checks, oxygen monitoring, emergency oxygen, and altitude sickness observation are part of the safety procedures to ensure a safe and comfortable trekking experience.
Acclimatization
The Rongai Route offers good acclimatization because of its gradual ascent and longer trekking profile, helping climbers adjust better to the altitude.
